New students
New to Ashtanga? Start here.
Everyone starts as a beginner. You don't need to be flexible, strong, or experienced — just willing to begin. Here's the easiest way in, what your first class is like, and how to book.
Begin with the Saturday Intro class
Intro / Fundamentals
Saturdays · 11:00 AM – 12:15 PMA friendly, slower-paced class with Elizabeth where you learn the breath, the opening sequence, and the fundamentals of Ashtanga in a supportive small group. It's the ideal first class before joining daily Mysore-style practice.
Cost: $24 drop-in — or $35 on your first visit with an AYD t-shirt to take home.

What to know for your first visit
What to wear
Comfortable, form-fitting clothing you can move in — avoid very loose or baggy clothes. Skip the jewelry; it tends to get in the way.
What to bring
Just yourself — we have mats, towels, and all props. Prefer your own mat? Bring it along. A water bottle is a good idea too.
When to arrive
Arrive 10–15 minutes early for your first visit so we can show you around, get you settled, and talk through any injuries.
Before you come
Practice on a fairly empty stomach (coffee or tea is fine). It's traditional to shower or bathe before practice.
